Rob Sich, Fayetteville FireAntz

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Rob Sich of the Fayetteville FireAntz is the Sher-Wood SPHL Player of the Week for March 1-7.

Sich, who previously set a new SPHL record for goals in a season, scored six goals and added four assists in leading Fayetteville to a 2-0-1 record for the week.

The LaSalle, Ontario native set up two goals in a 5-3 win against Knoxville on Tuesday, before scoring once and adding an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to Pensacola Friday night.  The following night, Sich earned himself another spot in the SPHL record book by scoring five goals and adding an assist in an 8-5 win over Pensacola.  Sich's outburst tied the record originally set by Fayetteville's Steve Roberts, who scored five goals in a game against Columbus on February 4, 2005.  His six points also tied the league record for points in a game, accomplished most recently by Knoxville's Kevin Swider and Tim Vitek on January 9, 2009 in a game against Richmond.

Sich, who became the first SPHL player to score 50 goals in a season, currently leads the league in goals (56), points (90) and game-winning goals (9).
