Kevin Swider, Knoxville Ice Bears

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Kevin Swider of the Knoxville Ice Bears is the Sher-Wood SPHL Player of the Week for March 22-27.

Swider, a two-time league MVP, scored twice and dished out 10 assists as the Ice Bears went 2-0 for the week.

On Friday, the Livonia, MI native set a new SPHL record by assisting on seven goals in Knoxville's 9-3 win over Huntsville.  His seven assists broke the previous record of five held by several players.  The following night, Swider scored twice and added three assists in a 9-4 win over Fayetteville, extending his league-record scoring streak to 31 games, during which he has 70 points.  Swider had held the previous mark of 29 games, set during the 2007-2008 season.

Swider, finished the season with 102 points, including a career-high 44 goals, in capturing his sixth- consecutive SPHL scoring title.
